Corneal Endothelial Dystrophy

Fuchs’ endothelial dystrophy is the most common primary disease of the corneal endothelium. It is caused by a gradual degeneration of the endothelial cells and can produce significant visual disturbances.

Symptoms of Fuchs’ Dystrophy

  • Increased sensitivity to light
  • Increased glare in your vision
  • Fluctuating vision
  • Vision that stays blurred all day

Treatment Options

  • Monitor condition with corneal pachymertry
  • Monitor condition with specular microscopy
  • Hypertonic eyedrops
  • Hyperosmotic eyedrops
  • Endothelium transplant surgery
  • Full-thickness corneal transplant
